Dennis R. Wagner, 73, of St. Anthony, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at his home.
He was born March 10, 1950, in Huntingburg, to Othmar and Roberta (Mundy) Wagner. Dennis was a tool and die maker for Jasper Rubber Products for 50 years. He was a member of the St. Anthony Conservation Club and Huntingburg Eagles. He enjoyed watching Western movies, woodworking and making wooden toys, fishing and making turtle soup in the “golden kettle”. Dennis’ first wife, Brenda (Leslie) Wagner, and their 23-month-old son, Robbie, died in a car accident in 1975. He married Arlene (Katterhenry) on October 5, 1995, at their home in St. Anthony.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene of St. Anthony; his children, Rebecca (James) Maxon of Oklahoma, Michelle (Mike) Kiefer of Jasper, Anita (Jack) Trayling of Michigan, Laura (John) Buse of Huntingburg; siblings, Larry (Andrea) Wagner of St. Anthony, Othmar (Connie) Wagner, Jr. of Santa Claus, Phyllis (Chuck) Casper of St. Croix, Julia Ann (Larry) Mitchell of Jasper and Kathy (Curt) Keaton of Jasper; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
In addition to his son and first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife and son; an infant sister, Mary Jo Wagner; and a grandson, Xachary Trayling in 2015.
Funeral services for Dennis Wagner will be held on Saturday, May 27, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church in St. Anthony with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Father Jose Thomas will officiate the service.
Friends may call for visitation at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg on Friday, May 26 from 3-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at church.
