The Grandview Fairgrounds were packed Saturday evening for the Krashin’ 4 Kids Demolition Derby. The event aimed to raise money for Shriner’s Hospital for Children, and tickets for a half pot to that effect sold out early. Engines roared and ailing metal screeched long into the night as everything from power wheels, lawnmowers, cars and trucks were put to the test in the arena. Bouts could go for quite a while, as each vehicle and driver had a puncher’s chance to win so long as they had a little horsepower left for a lucky shot. Naturally, many of the modified vehicles succumbed to damage over the evening and had to be towed, though a fair few were able to limp away to fight another day. There were several food vendors on the scene as well, including Bee Original Dawgs, to keep the crowd sated in between the adrenaline rushes.
