Joan L. Trinkel, 93, of Rockport, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Willowdale Village in Dale.
Joan was born in Spencer County on June 16, 1930, to Wesley and Sadie (Patmore) Ludwig.
Joan was a graduate of Dale High School class of 1947. She started working at the Dale State Bank at age 16 and retired as the Senior Vice President in 1994 after more than 40 years of service. She was an active member of Zion United Church of Christ, Zion Women’s Guild, church board, Parish West Board, and enjoyed playing the organ for 18 years. She was also a member of Spier Spencer County Chapter of the D.A.R. and Friends of Lincoln State Park.
In addition to her parenets, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Trinkel; daughter, Susan Carey; sisters, Weltha Espenlaub, Rosella Burke and infant sister, Alberta Ludwig.
Joan is survived by her son, Steven Trinkel and his wife, Marilyn of Rockport; son-in-law, Douglas Carey and his wife, Linda of Rockport; grandchildren, Andrea Wildeman, Adam Trinkel, Megan Shumaker and her husband, Douglas, Shannon Carey, Jason Carey and his wife, Christy; great-grandchildren, Edward Wildeman, Matthew Wildeman, Makenna Shumaker and Declan Shumaker.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday, July 22, at Zion United Church of Christ in Chrisney, with Pastor Steve Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Centerville Cemetery.
Visitation is from 2 until 8 p.m. Friday, July 21, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home Youngblood Chapel at 36 E. Market St. Chrisney, and from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ.
