Nancy Gay Young, 75, of Rockport, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville.
She was born in Evansville on November 4, 1949, to Patrick Axton and Betty (Hagan) Ferguson.
Nancy attended Good Shepherd Church in Owensboro, Kentucky and was a 50+ year member of Daughters of the American Revolution.
She had owned and operated Axton’s Dance Studio for 25 years. She also was a children’s minister at Good Shepherd Church, taught at Majesty Christian School, was a teacher’s assistant with the Head Start program in Owensboro, and a teacher’s assistant at Rockport Elementary and South Spencer Middle School.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Lee Young, who passed away in 2021.
Nancy is survived by her children, Audra Beth Stewart (Rick Webb), Kyle Axton Young, and Bobby Polston; her grandchildren, Collin and Connor Stewart and Dylan Webb (Hannah); her great-grandchild, Kai Webb; her brothers, Jim Ferguson, Bob Ferguson, Phillip Ferguson and Gary Ferguson; many extended family and friends.
Services were 1 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor Carl Jones officiating.
Visitation was 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
