Roberta Jochim, 95, of Mariah Hill, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. Roberta was born July 22, 1929 in St. Meinrad to Leonard and Mary Frances (Fetter) Handschiegl. She married William Jochim on October 21, 1950 in Mary Help of Christians Church. William preceded her in death on October 16, 2013.
Roberta worked as a school secretary. She was a member of Santa Claus Legion Auxiliary, a former 4-H Leader and past Board Member of North Spencer County Community Action Center. Roberta belonged to St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Mary Help of Christians Church. Roberta along with her husband, William were recipients of the Simon Brute Award.
Roberta is survived by two sons, Stan (LeAnn) Jochim and Sam (Karen) Jochim all of Mariah Hill; one daughter, Sandy Dilger of Santa Claus (companion Ron Legg); one sister, Norma Sonderman of Lebanon; five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren.
Roberta was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William Jochim; two sisters, Ruth Salzman and Mildred Striewe; son in-law, Herb Dilger and a great-grandson, Isaac Miller.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 20 at 10 a.m. CT in Mary Help of Christians Church, Mariah Hill. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Monday, August 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. CT at the church and also on Tuesday morning at the church from 9 a.m. CT until time of services.
In lieu of gifts, memorial contributions may be made to IGM Music Matters Foundation, Mariah Hilf Foundation, North Spencer Community Action Center or St. Francis of Assisi Parish.
