Clyde John Bender, 76, of Gentryville, passed away on December 25, 2020, at Woodmont Nursing Home in Boonville, with his children by his side.
Clyde was born on December 18, 1944, in Spencer County, to the late Milo and Della Mae (Russell) Bender. He married Jean Bender on December 22, 1962.
A hard worker, he joined Labor Local 561 of Evansville, in 1970, and retired in 1999. In September of 2020, Clyde became a 50-year member of Labor Local 561.
Clyde was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He touched many lives and will be dearly missed.
Clyde was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Jean Bender; parents, Milo and Della Mae Bender; siblings, Hettie Johnson, Eva Mae (Dolly) Taylor, Gloria Thompson, Gladys Franz, Milo (Bud) Bender, Jr., Paul Bender, Jerry Bender, Charles Bender and Mary Bender.
Clyde is survived by his children, Clyde Allen (Sheila) Bender of Evansville and Denise Gasaway (Jeff) of Tennyson; grandchildren Andrea and Ryan Bender of Evansville, Caitlynn and Bradley Gasaway of Tennyson; siblings, Anthony (Kay) Bender of Gentryville, and June Evertts of Hatfield; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30, at Koehler Funeral Home in Boonville, with Pastor Charlotte Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Bender Cemetery in Gentryville.
Visitation is from 5 until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, and again from 8 until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
