After holding on for one more summer to enjoy moments with her family that she had eagerly been anticipating, Janet E. Wayman, 80, of Rockport, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville.
Janet was born in Knox County, Indiana on March 23, 1946, to the late Charles and Hiley Ruth (Elkins) Fox.
Janet was a member of Hatfield Methodist Church for over 40 years and had worked with Spencer County Council on Aging and Meals on Wheels.
Janet was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family, shopping with her granddaughters, quilting with the ladies at church, and sewing. She also enjoyed cooking for a crowd at church and for community events. She made sure there was always plenty of food and that the workers were always included.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Cannon, Julia Crisco, Gene Fox, Junior Fox, Henry Fox and Ira Fox.
Janet is survived by her husband of almost 58 years (November 10th), John Wayman; her son, Paul Wayman (Melissa); her daughter, Tammy Obermeyer (Darin); her grandchildren, Hiley Lanam (Luke) and Anna Obermeyer; a special little boy, Xander Leistner; her brother, Richard Fox; her sister, Carol Richter; many extended family members and friends.
Services were held Saturday, September 12, at Hatfield Methodist Church in Hatfield, with Pastor Jeff Bullock officiating. Burial followed at James Parker Cemetery.
Boultinghouse Funeral Home of Rockport was entrusted with care.
