Hydroplaning leads to run-off

Sarah Mangan, 17, of Evanston, was northbound on Fulda Shortcut when, she later told officers who arrived at the scene, her 2006 Mercury Sedan hydroplaned around a curve, causing her to run off the road. Mangan was uninjured in the January 24, 10:17 p.m. accident and denied EMS treatment, and damage to her Mercury was estimated between $1,000-2,500.

Driver injured in accident

According to police, 21-year-old Joshua McManaway of Tell City drove off the roadway on State Road 66 near Grandview and struck a utility pole. Upon the vehicle’s return to the roadway, McManaway exited his 2006 Chevrolet Impala and rolled onto the ground. Officers report detecting the odor of alcohol on both McManaway and inside his vehicle, and multiple open alcohol containers and full beer cans were found inside the Impala. McManaway was transported to the hospital for injuries he sustained during the accident. He also consented to a blood draw, with the presumptive blood test showing his blood alcohol content to be 0.190. State tests are still pending.
