Four parked vehicles damaged in run-off

Ryan Powell, 18, of Owensboro, KY, was southbound on SR 161 near Rockport when, he later told authorities, the front end of his 2010 Ford Escape started to lock up. Unable to steer the vehicle, he crossed traffic lanes and ran off the roadway into an embankment. His vehicle then continued up the embankment and struck parked vehicles in a used car lot, causing damage to four unoccupied parked vehicles. Powell was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained in the January 27, 7:27 a.m. accident. Estimated damage was between $5,000-10,000.

Rear-end collision

Anna Johnson, 64, of Rockport, was preparing to turn south onto CR 600 W off of SR 66 in Richland when, according to the report, her 2009 Ford Escape was struck from behind by a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by 35-year-old Joshua Cupp of Newburgh. Cupp later told authorities he had known Johnson’s Escape was turning, but he looked down for a split second, causing him to rear-end the vehicle. Johnson’s Ford was towed from the scene due to having expired registration. Neither driver was injured in the February 4, 3:44 p.m. collision, but damage was estimated between $5,000-10,000.

Run-off on Fulda Shortcut

Jayla Gullick, 18, of Tell City, was traveling northbound on Fulda Shortcut Road approaching CR 1740 N when, she later told authorities, she lost control of her 2004 Pontiac Vibe on the snow-covered road, causing her to run off the roadway. She then over-corrected, at which point the vehicle slid off the roadway again and struck a ditch and mailbox. Gullick was not injured in the February 7, 1:05 a.m. accident, but damages were estimated between $5,000-10,000.

Beverly Turner, 61, of Grandview, was attempting to stop at a stop sign on SR 70 near Chrisney when, due to icy road conditions, her 2005 Ford Focus slid forward and struck the sign. Turner was not injured, but damage to her vehicle in the February 7, 4:10 a.m. accident was estimated between $5,000-10,000.

Second Fulda Shortcut run-off

Craigg Powers, 41, of Tell City, was traveling on Fulda Shortcut Road north of CR 1850 N when, according to the report, he lost control of his vehicle due to traveling too fast for weather and roadway conditions, causing his 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer to run off the ice-covered roadway. The vehicle came to rest in a ditch. Powers was transported to to Perry County Memorial Hospital after complaining of neck pain. His vehicle sustained between $2,500-5,000 in estimated damages in the February 7, 4:45 a.m. crash.
