Ran off road
A man was cited for leaving the scene of an accident that occurred on SR 70 Saturday night, March 28. Upon arriving at the scene, an officer with the Sheriff’s Office was unable to locate the driver of the 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 but did find his ID on the floorboard. The officer attempted to find the driver at his residence, but according to the officer, no one answered the door. The driver, 34-year-old Jay Whitney of Evanston, was located the following day and allegedly told officers he had run off the road after swerving to miss a deer; he then left the scene due to the storm that was occurring at the time. Whitney was cited for leaving the scene of an accident, a misdemeanor. Damage to his vehicle was estimated between $1,000-2,500.
