Assault investigation in Gentryville

The Spencer County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an assault that was reported to have occurred on Saturday, June 20, at around 5:30 p.m. in the Gentryville area. The incident was reported an hour later to the Sheriff’s Office and officers were in the area attempting to locate anyone matching the description given. Officers are continuing to investigate the matter. The suspect was reported as a 6’2” male with dark brown/gray facial hair, shoulder-length hair and wearing a dirty black baseball cap with camouflage pants and black cut-off shirt. Driver flees scene after running another vehicle off road

Scott Hesson, 60, of Chrisney, was northbound on CR 100E near Chrisney when, he later told authorities, he noticed a black SUV following him closely. Hesson said the SUV then rammed the back of his 2016 Toyota Corolla several times until he was forced off the roadway. The driver of the SUV then fled the scene. Officers have not been able to locate the SUV or driver. Hesson was not injured in the June 9, 1:36 a.m. incident, but damage to his vehicle was estimated between $5,000-10,000.

Head-on collision

Cole Lusnak, 25, of Utica, KY, was eastbound on SR 66 near Richland when a 2018 Ford F150 driven by 47-year-old Glendell Hammers of Rockport entered the intersection from CR 950 W, causing the vehicles to collide. Hammers allegedly told police he did not see Lusnak’s 2013 Chevrolet Express before he entered the intersection; Lusnak told authorities that Hammers did not stop and yield before entering the intersection. Neither driver was injured in the June 11, 5:26 p.m. accident, but damages were estimated between $5,000-10,000. Hammers was cited for failure to yield.

Ran off road

James Kennedy, 85, of Cloverport, KY, was eastbound on SR 66 in Grandview when, he later told police, he fell asleep and left the roadway, striking a tree. According to the report, Kennedy was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, causing him to strike the windshield on the passenger side of his 1990 Chevrolet. He was treated at the scene for bleeding from his head and was later issued a seatbelt citation. Total damages in the June 22, 12 a.m. accident were estimated between $25,000-50,000.
