The Lincoln Heritage Public Library is working to open up to more public events as pandemic concerns subside. One activity starting this month is “Family Fun Stories” featuring local notables as storytellers. These events include crafts and show-and-tell as well as public speakers reading stories with various themes.
Sheriff Kelli Reinke kickstarted the event this month early Tuesday morning, November 2 by showing up in uniform to read a selection of children’s books focusing on community police officers and their jobs. This was accompanied by prepared craft projects featuring paper police cars. Joy Zook hosted horse-related stories and activities this morning, and every Tuesday remaining in November has similar speakers and activities planned.
Next Tuesday, November 16 will feature the Santa Claus Fire Department with bingo and crafts. Adrienne Held will host a dinosaur-themed event with sand art November 23. Marsha Hicks will follow November 30 with a gingerbread theme and gingerbread playdough to introduce the Christmas season. All events begin at 9:30 a.m.
The Dale branch is also hosting adult programs on Mondays at 6 p.m. November 15 will feature chair exercises suitable for any fitness level, demonstrating ways to exercise while sitting. November 22 will feature lessons on how to stay healthy after turning 50, including take-home materials. November 29 will allow visitors to decorate their own Christmas ornaments in a variety of styles.
