The long countdown to the Great North American Eclipse of 2024 began Saturday, April 8. In about one solar year, beginning around 12:47 CDT that Monday, a total eclipse of the sun will blanket the county in shade. Santa Claus Brewing Co., among other local businesses and organizations, is planning a series of events until the eclipse to keep residents well and truly hyped and make Spencer County’s star burn a little brighter for out-of-towners looking for somewhere to stop by for the spectacle.
Santa Claus Brewing Co. kicked off its year-long marathon of fun Saturday with its Run to the Sun 5K run and walk. A sizable crowd gathered for this untimed fun run, or at least the food, drink and entertainment available at the restaurant once they’d all gotten their steps in. While the day began a little on the cloudy side, the guest of honor for the event beamed brightly in the sky by early afternoon when the runners set off down the trails.
