Volunteers from both Perry and Spencer counties hit the gym at Chrisney Elementary School Saturday for this year’s Relay for Life. Survivors, caregivers, family, and friends gathered to make this annual battle against cancer a success.
In lieu of a keynote speaker this year, event organizers brought back the old tradition of comedic skits to get the day started on a high note. These performances ranged from country music to country comedy acts, culminating in the arrival of the torch to start the inaugural lap of the day. Spirits were high as volunteers and organizers kicked off the festivities.
“That applause is for all of you,” said Faith Schaefer of Spencer County Relay for Life. “It’s a party for you. This is my favorite time of year.”
