Roald Dahl’s classic children’s book comes to life in the vibrant musical telling of Matilda, a young girl whose imagination and love of learning are rejected by her unscrupulous parents. With encouragement from her teacher, Miss Honey, Matilda’s spunk takes her on a journey to create her own destiny. With larger-than-life characters, endearing songs, energetic dances, and a touch of magic, Matilda has delighted audiences across the country since its Broadway debut in 2013. Kate Letterman Conway will direct the production for Jasper-based Actors Community Theatre.
Auditions for Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical will be held on May 10 and 11 from 6-9pm EST at the Jasper Arts Center. Please enter through the main lobby entrance. Ages 8 and up are welcome to audition.
Those auditioning should come prepared with a one-minute song (a capella or with pre-recorded accompaniment) to showcase their vocal ability, and may be asked to perform a cold reading from the script, as well as learn and perform a short dance routine. Auditionees should also bring a list of schedule conflicts through July 24. Please arrive as close to 6pm as possible to allow ample time for various groupings for cold readings and dance auditions.
