Aurelio “Chicko” Villarreal Vasquez, 78, of Middleburg, Florida (formerly of Rockport), passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025, at St. Vincent Riverside Community Hospice in Jacksonville, Florida.

Chicko was born in Mexico on September 25, 1945, to Alvaro Villarreal and Alicia Vasquez.

He was a member of Grandview Nazarene Church and very active with Work & Witness. He had also served in the United States Army. He was a member of American Legion Post 254 in Rockport, where he had served as a member of the color guard.

In 2006, Chicko retired from Aleris, where he had worked in production for 33 years. He enjoyed gardening, riding motorcycles, attending Powwows and Civil War reenactments, and being a handyman for family and friends.

Chicko is survived by his wife, Rhonda (Myers) Vasquez; daughter, Elizabeth Phoenix; son, Chris Oberding (Molly); grandchildren, Kristen Lucas, Kaylen McVicar, and A.J. Frederick; mother-in-law, Anna Theiring (Kenneth); brother-in-law, Ray Myers (Pam); sister-in-law, Bobbie Myers; special nephew, Johnathan Myers (Kendra) and their children, Ayla and Kazley.

Services are 1 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor Randy Boyer and Pastor John Smithson officiating. Burial will follow at James Parker Cemetery in Hatfield.

Visitation is 4 until 8 p.m. Friday, March 7, and 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home.
