Betty Jean Young, 93, of Rockport, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Heart-to-Heart Hospice in Evansville.
Betty was born in Owensboro, Kentucky on July 30, 1930, to William and Olivia (Rummage) Abel.
Betty was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, a member of Lakewood (now The Rustic) Country Club and had previously served on the South Spencer School Board.
She was a homemaker, but in her younger days, had worked at GE.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Young, Jr; her son, David Christopher Young; her grandson, Justin Young; her brothers, John Abel, George Bivens, Pat Abel, and Jack Abel; her sisters, Verdie Stevens and Rebecca Booker.
She is survived by her children, Wesley Allen Young (Bridget), Kim Allyn Stallings (Byron), and Deborah Hedrick, whom she loved like a daughter; her grandchildren, Ryan Young, Zeth Young and Emma Stallings; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Nancy Bumm.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.
