Carol Gaesser, 70, of Ferdinand, passed away Friday, December 13, 2019, at her home from complications of Multiple Myeloma. 

Carol was born August 30, 1949, to Alois “Sas” and Pauline M. (Dischinger) Tretter. She was united in marriage with David Gaesser on June 3, 1972, in Saint Ferdinand Catholic Church. A retired teacher from St. Anthony and Pine Ridge Elementary Schools, she was a lifelong member of Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church and its St. Ann’s Sodality. 

Carol was a 1967 graduate of St. Ferdinand High School. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from St. Benedicts College and a Master’s Degree from Indiana State University.

A charter member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority, her other memberships included the Ferdinand Circle Daughters of Isabella, Ferdinand American Legion Auxiliary and the Indiana Retired Teachers Association. 

She enjoyed her grandchildren, knitting, camping and gardening.

Survivors include her husband, David Gaesser of Ferdinand; daughter, Jennifer (Philip) Ebert of Greenfield; son, Mark (Kate) Gaesser of Carmel; three granddaughters, Caroline and Sarah Ebert and Reeve Gaesser; two brothers, Richard “Digger” (Kathy) Tretter of Ferdinand and Joe Tretter of Wasilla, Alaska; two sisters, Miriam Ash of Ferdinand and Madonna (Greg) Gerber of Wasilla, Alaska; three sister- and brothers-in-law, Martha (Jerry) Gagney and Kathy (Randy) Dorsam, all of Jasper, Mary (Greg) Wehr of Bretzville; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry (Denise) Gaesser of Ferdinand; and two sisters-in-law, Georgia Tretter of Dale and Elizabeth Tretter of Ferdinand.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Kenny, Patrick, Mark and Charles Tretter; and one brother-in-law, Paul Ash. 

A mass of Christian burial for Carol Gaesser will be held Tuesday, December 17 at 10 a.m. in Saint Ferdinand Church with burial following in the church cemetery. 

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 16 at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand and from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at Saint Ferdinand Church. All times listed are Eastern.
