Carolyn Lee (Whitten) Wedeking, 87, of Greenwood, South Carolina, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood, SC.

Born in Dale on August 31, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Wallace and Ethel Whitten.

She worked alongside her husband, Charles “Bill” William Wedeking, in the family store, C.W. Wedeking & Co. When the store closed, she opened the Dale Antique Mall in 1987 with her friend where they worked for six years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed many years with the Dale Literary Club. Bridge was also a passion and she participated in Bridge Clubs in both Greenwood and Indiana. She loved Indiana University Basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals.

She was a former member of Dale United Methodist Church and a current member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. She was active in UMW at both churches.

Her family and grandchildren were the light of her life. Left to cherish her memories are daughter, Marsha Wedeking Snow and husband Roger of Greenwood; a son, Stan William Wedeking and wife Susie of Los Angeles, CA; a granddaughter, Amanda Burger and husband Justin of Greenwood; two great-granddaughters, Abigail and Sadie Burger; two sisters, Jane Conner (Keith) and Peggy Lovell; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Charles “Bill” William Wedeking, and a sister, Betty Kissel.

A Celebration of Life service for Carolyn Wedeking was held Sunday, October 27, at St. Mark United Methodist Church in Greenwood, SC, with Dr. Dan Smyth officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave, Greenwood, SC 29646 or to St. Mark United Methodist Church, 550 Hwy 72 Bypass NW, Greenwood, SC 29649.
