Charles Nathan Johns, 92, of Rockport, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025, at his home surrounded by family.
Charles was born in Evansville on August 9, 1932, to Nathan S. and Ollie B. (Childress) Johns.
Charles was a Korean War veteran, a member of Newburgh American Legion Post No. 0044, and had worked in civil engineering through the Alcoa Construction Division.
In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, mowing, and vacationing in Florida. He also loved flea marketing and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Leroy Johns, who passed away in 2003; his brother, Richard Eugene Johns; and three sisters, Dorothy Mae Miller, Louise Englehardt and Beulah O’Brien.
He is survived by his wife, Rose (Garrett) Johns; his children, Debbie Collins and her husband, Cevin, David Johns (Nina), and Derek Johns and his wife, Cari; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; his brother, Donald Earl Johns and his wife, Barbara; his sister, Mary Jo McKeehn; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor Clayton Ahlemeyer officiating. Burial will follow at Plainview Cemetery in Boonville.
Visitation is 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
