Claire Ann (Wetzel) Byam, 73, of Rockport, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.
Claire Ann was born in Evansville on February 10, 1947, to the late John and Ruby (Cissna) Wetzel.
She had retired from the University of Evansville Library. Claire Ann was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was an active choir member.
She loved watching after her grandchildren and was a very special Nana.
In addition to her parents, Claire Ann was preceded in death by her son, Sean Byam, who passed away in 2008, and her brother, Roger Wetzel.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Jim Byam, of Rockport; her daughter, Erin Byam-Crosby, and her husband, Aaron, of Evansville; her grandsons, Isaiah and Kane; her sister-in-law, Ann Wetzel, of Evansville; her nieces Julie Hyland (Robert Rubinstein), Beth Ward(Rick), and Rebecca Wetzel.
Services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, August 30, at Trinity United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jill Kaetzel officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will held from 4 until 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, and from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday at the church.
