Doretta “Dottie” Kay Reutman was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She lost her battle to cancer on January 19, 2024 at the age of 57.
She was born to Garhardt “Gary” and Dorothy Rohlman on January 22, 1966. Upon graduating high school, she attended Sullivan University where she received an associates degree in travel. She enjoyed traveling, especially with her husband, Patrick Reutman, with whom she tied the knot on November 21, 1987. Together, they had two kids, Hannah and Taylor. She later obtained a BA in Education and developed an impactful career in education.
Dottie was a unique individual who was a stranger to no one. In her free time, she enjoyed taking cruises, spending time in nature, and renting cabins in isolation up in the mountains away from the hustle and bustle of life. Recently, she and Patrick moved to the countryside of Rockport to spend their golden years making memories, enjoying life, and watching wildlife. Evenings were spent sitting around the fire, watching the hummingbirds, and enjoying nature. Wherever she went, one would find a Diet Pepsi in one hand, and a Hershey’s bar in the other. She attempted every craft under the sun and found her element in diamond dot painting. You could say she was our “Diamond Dottie.” When she wasn’t busy enjoying nature, she could be found playing board and card games, and reading novels.
Dottie is survived by her husband, Patrick; her children, Hannah (Drew) Kinman and Taylor (Mason) Reutman; her four grandchildren, Zackory Hirsch, Ruger, Remington, and Kimber Kinman; her mother, Dorothy Rohlman; her brothers, Douglas (Diana) Rohlman and Doyle (Susan) Rohlman. She had 21 nieces and nephews. Those already waiting for her in heaven were her father, Garhardt “Gary” Rohlman and nephew Jeremy Gehlhausen.
A private viewing will be held at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport on Saturday, January 27. Burial service will follow immediately after the viewing, and Dottie will be laid to rest at Alexander Cemetery in Rockport.
