Dorothy Dawson, 95, of Rockport, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Rockport.
Dorothy was born in Patronville on March 17, 1926, to John and Hazel (Parsley) Allen.
Dorothy had been a member of Patronville United Methodist Church. She was the secretary at the Rockport Housing Authority for many years.
A homemaker, she loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards and games with her grandchildren, was a great cook and an avid baseball fan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Damon Junior Dawson, and her sister, Mary Lou Powers.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Max Dawson, John Dawson and his wife, Cathy, Pat Dawson and his wife, Irina and Jana Grose and her husband, David; grandchildren, Chris Dawson and his wife, Lori, Corey Dawson and his wife, Kim, Damon A. Dawson, Quinn Dawson and his wife, Christine, Jon Dawson, Casey McMahon and her husband, Kevin, Eric Dawson and his wife, Lydia, Alexander “Sasha” Dawson, Andrew Dawson, Katie Hess and her husband, Matt and Mark Grose and his wife, Johanna; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. Burial will follow in Alexander Cemetery in Rockport.
Visitation is from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
