Two arrested on domestic battery
Jasper Police responded to a domestic dispute near Dewey Street at 10:30 p.m. last Thursday night, August 6. Both parties involved, 44-year-old Brian Williams and 35-year-old Amanda Jones of Jasper, were taken to the Jasper Police Department in reference to recorded interviews. According to police, Williams and Jones both had facial injuries; Jones also had injuries to her arms, while Williams had an injury to his neck. After further investigation, officers determined there were two separate incidents that had occurred between Williams and Jones within recent days. Williams was charged with domestic battery, battery, and criminal recklessness. Jones was charged with domestic battery, battery, strangulation and criminal recklessness. Both were lodged in the Dubois County Security Center on the charges.
OWI arrest
Last Monday night, Jasper Police received two separate calls regarding a possible intoxicated driver traveling northbound on US 231 near Rural King. When officers located and attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver allegedly continued northbound before coming to a stop in the parking lot of Freedom Bank. Officers determined the driver, 53-year-old Chris Ferguson of Huntingburg, was intoxicated and transported him to Memorial Hospital. Ferguson submitted to a certified chemical test, which showed his blood alcohol content to be 0.235. Ferguson was then transported to the security center on charges of operating while intoxicated with an ACE of 0.15 or more with a prior conviction (a level 5 felony), resisting law enforcement using a vehicle (level 6 felony), OWI endangering a person (class A misdemeanor) and OWI (class C misdemeanor).
Woman charged with domestic battery
Officers were dispatched to 322 S. Meridian Road at 1:54 a.m. Sunday, August 9, in reference to a physical domestic situation between the residents of that address. Upon arriving at the scene, officers located the male resident, who had a laceration to his upper lip. After speaking with the victim and a witness, officers determined that 44-year-old Laura Stallings had allegedly caused a verbal disturbance before striking the victim in the face with a full glass whiskey bottle. The victim was transported to Memorial Hospital by a friend to get treated for his injuries, and Stallings was arrested on a charge of domestic battery with a deadly weapon.

Intersection collision
Ferdinand Police investigated a property damage accident that occurred at 6:08 Monday morning (August 10). According to police, 71-year-old Russell Tyner of Delta, CO, was preparing to turn onto SR 162 north from Industrial Park Road when his 2008 Chevrolet Silverado was struck by a 2015 GMC Terrain driven by 72-year-old Phyllis Musgrave of Tell City. Police say Musgrave, who was faulted for the accident and advised of an improper left turn, was in the turn lane heading in the wrong direction when she struck Tyner’s vehicle. Neither driver was injured in the collision, but each vehicle sustained approximately $10,000 in damage.
