Minor collision on Industrial Park Road

Ferdinand Police responded to a minor accident that occurred at the intersection of SR 162 and Industrial Park Road at 12:32 p.m. last Saturday, February 1. Both Dennis White, 70, of Ferdinand, and Clerence Enmen, 71, of Bristow, were stopped in their vehicles at the light and preparing to turn north off Industrial Park Road and onto SR 162. According to the report, when the light turned green, White started to move forward, unaware that Enmen had not yet moved. The front bumper of White’s 2015 Toyota pick-up made contact with Enmen’s 2012 Chevrolet Malibu’s rear bumper. Neither driver was injured in the collision, and both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.

Dumped ashes lead to brush fire

Approximately two acres of a wooded area were burned on Monday, February 3, at 7389 E State Road 64, a property owned by John Chumbley. According to the report, ashes were dumped out on Saturday, and the wind fanned the embers enough to reignite surrounding brush. Fifteen firefighters and four trucks from the Schnellville Fire Department were on scene for approximately an hour. Birdseye Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene with 10 personnel and four trucks.
