Run to Comfort Inn

Ferdinand Fire Department was called to the Comfort Inn at 10:12 p.m. Saturday night, February 29, to the report of a general fire alarm. Upon arriving, units discovered that the smoke detector in room 102 had activated for an unknown reason. Firefighters cleaned the detector and successfully reset the system. Fourteen personnel and four trucks were on scene for approximately 15 minutes. Ferdinand Police Department assisted.

Two vehicles collide at intersection

Ferdinand Police were dispatched to the intersection of SR 162 and Industrial Park Road north for a two-vehicle crash at 6:20 a.m. Monday morning (March 2). According to police, 69-year-old Ronald Mundy of Ferdinand was stopped at the stop sign on Industrial Park Road, and when he attempted to turn left onto SR 162, his 2005 Toyota Camry collided with a northbound 2009 Jeep Wrangler driven by 33-year-old Greg Mitchem of Jasper. Neither driver was injured in the collision, but Mundy’s vehicle was deemed a total loss, while Mitchem’s sustained significant damage to the rear driver’s side tire and wheel well. Mundy was cited for failure to yield right of way.
