Run to Comfort Inn

Ferdinand Fire Department was called to the Comfort Inn at 9:52 p.m. last Thursday, September 17, to report of a general fire alarm. Upon arriving, units found that steam in room 202 had activated the smoke detector. Personnel reset the system. Three trucks and nine personnel were on scene for approximately 15 minutes. Ferdinand Police provided assistance.

Collision at 5th and Michigan

Ferdinand Police responded to a two-vehicle property damage accident at 6:30 p.m. last Monday, September 14. Upon further investigation, officers determined 18-year-old Tori King of Birdseye was southbound on Michigan Street when she came to a stop sign; as she proceeded to cross 5th Street, she struck a westbound 2007 Ford SUV driven by 29-year-old Tiffany Neal of Corydon. Neither driver was injured in the collision, but both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. King’s 2016 Mazda sustained approximately $15,000 in damage, while damage to Neal’s SUV was estimated at $10,000. Ferdinand Fire Department provided assistance at the scene.

Jasper Police Department

Man arrested for rape and other charges

On Saturday morning, September 11, Jasper Police were contacted by Memorial Hospital regarding an adult female who was being treated after a sexual assault. After investigation, officers learned 31-year-old Francisco J. Perez of Jasper had allegedly sexually assaulted the female at a residence in Jasper late Friday night. Perez was located at the Dubois County Work Release Center, where he was arrested and charged with rape (level 3 felony), criminal confinement (level 6 felony) and battery (class A misdemeanor).
