Eileen B. Gehlhausen, 96, of Bristow, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025 at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. 

Eileen was born on June 4, 1928 in Uniontown, to Anthony and Ella (Merkley) Paulin. She was united in marriage with Rudolph Gehlhausen on June 2, 1948 in St. Martin Of Tours Church in Siberia. Rudolph preceded her in death on November 10, 2010.

Eileen was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, and St. Meinrad Legion Post 366 Auxiliary. Eileen retired from the Abbey Press after 31 years and she was a homemaker.

Surviving are three sons, Daniel (Patty) Gehlhausen, and Timothy (Denise) Gehlhausen, both of Bristow and Kenrick “Rick” (Ava) Gehlhausen of Ferdinand; four daughters, Jacinta “ Cindy” (Schipp) Schaefer (Gene Braunecker) of Ferdinand, Sandra Lasher of Tell City, Michelle (Eric) Rahman of Ferdinand, and Jacquelyn Knieriem (Curtis) of Branchville; 22 grandchildren, Mark (Sara) Gehlhausen, Chad (Kayla) Gehlhausen, Lance Gehlhausen, Aaron (Amanda) Schipp, Amber (Mike) Wehr, Adam (Emily) Schipp, Ryan (Traci) Gehlhausen, Alicia (John) Harmon, Kyla (AJ) Bennet, Wayne (Kara) Lasher, Gene (Amanda) Lasher, Kim (Phil) Siebert, Brent (Bridget) Lasher, Andrea (Jason) Klem, Audra (Josh) Henke, Ashlyn (Forrest) Nanney, Morgan (Russ) Vickers, Logan (Kayla) Schaefer, Gavin (Kayley) Schaefer, Wes (Nicole) Sitzman, Tyler (Shelby) Sitzman, and Autumn (Jake) Rickelman and nine step-grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 23 step-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Richard (Norida) Paulin of Bristow. 

Eileen was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Gehlhausen; granddaughter, Madison Sitzman; sister, Rosalie Gehlhausen; brother, Earl Paulin; two great-great-grandchildren; and three sons-in-law, Bill Schipp, Larry Schaefer and Anthony Lasher. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, February 7 at 10 a.m. CST in St. Isidore Catholic Church in Bristow. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6 from 3 until 7 p.m. CST and continuing on Friday from 8 until 9:30 a.m. CST at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand.
