Ellen Joyce Powell, 59, of Rockport, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2020, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.
Ellen Joyce was born on October 21, 1960, to Paul Preston Powell, Sr. and Thelma Kathryn (Weatherholt) Powell.
She loved music and played several instruments. She loved cooking and enjoyed watching her cats play in the backyard of her house, but her greatest joy was reading and studying the Bible.
Ellen Joyce started working at a young age at The Pantry in Rockport, followed by Noble Romans in Evansville. She was a manager at Shoney’s Restaurant and worked in the office at Sears. Later, she was a manager at the Hampton Inn and also worked at Old National Bank in Rockport. Her smiling face will be missed.
Ellen Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Paul Preston Powell, Jr.
She is survived by her sister, Sharon Louise Powell; her stepson, Shawn Robertson and his wife, Natasha, their children, Lillyin Rose, Calie Lynn, Christian Alexander and Elias Lewis; her sister-in-law, Karen (Quillman) Powell, Karen’s children Charlene, Misty, and Mary, and Karen’s grandchildren.
Services for Ellen Joyce Powell will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 20, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor Walter Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Hackleman Cemetery in Chrisney.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home on Monday.
