A lengthy debate has been going on within the United Methodist Church, leading some members of Santa Claus UMC to begin exploring options of starting a new UMC in Santa Claus.
They’ve had a few meetings to get the ball rolling, but the next step is to engage the community.
Two Coffee and Conversation events have been planned and everyone interested in the topic is invited to attend.
Both sessions will be held at the Holiday Village Recreation Center, the first on Sunday, January 29 at 1 p.m. and the second on Wednesday, February 1 at 6 p.m.
Coffee and light refreshments will be served and organizers will share a progress report as well as what the next steps might be.
All are welcome, and this church will include people from all backgrounds, regardless of race, gender or sexual orientation.
Retired UMC Pastor Jill Kaetzel explains, “More than anything we just want the people to know we are starting a new faith community and everyone is invited.”
