Frederick E. Hanebutt, 88, of Huntingburg died Monday, October 4, in an ATV accident on SR 64 near CR 750 W (See obituary, Page 3A).
According to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department, Hannebutt was attempting to cross the highway on his 2007 Yamaha four-wheeler and pulled into the path of an eastbound 2017 Toyota Corolla, driven by Joseph Burger, 57, of Huntingburg. Burger was unable to stop and the vehicles collided, ejecting Hanebutt. All the Toyota’s airbags deployed and the vehicle is thought to be a total loss. Hanebutt died at the scene. Burger was not injured in the 4:30 p.m. accident.
The Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Indiana State Police and the Indiana Conservation Office.Â
