Jack R. Robinson, 84, of Rockport, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024, at home after spending the evening surrounded by family.

Jack was born on July 15, 1939, in Grandview, to the late Lois (Lovell) Robinson and Charles Kermit Robinson.

After high school graduation, Jack attended Indiana University majoring in Russian and minoring in Latin. After college graduation Jack served two years in Army Intelligence as a special investigator. While in the Army he married his high school sweetheart, Rita. After discharge from the Army Jack returned to Indiana where he attended Indiana University Law School, receiving his Doctorate of Jurisprudence.

Jack was an attorney in Rockport for 48 years and at his retirement received a special award from the Spencer County Bar Association for his many years of service in the community. Jack spent a number of his years serving as either Spencer County Prosecutor or Deputy Prosecutor. Jack also defended multiple cases that made the national news.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years Rita (Miller) Robinson, brothers Larry and Dale and grandson Zachary Robinson.

Jack is survived by his wife of 19 years, Donna Eble Roth Robinson; son, Charles (Jean) Robinson; daughters Cynthia (Mike) Shelton and Cara (Brian) Matthews; brothers Mike (Cherie) Robinson and Mark (Maura) Robinson; grandchildren, Charles (Maggie) Robinson, Caleb (Alexa) Robinson, Shane (Britney) Shelton, Samantha (Matt) Disinger, Sophie Matthews and Lola Matthews; great-granddaughter Sophia Ramos-Shelton; two nieces and one nephew as well as Donna’s many family members.

Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. Burial is in Grandview Cemetery in Grandview.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
