James L. Daming, 81, of Rockport, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.
James was born in Rockport on July 12, 1941, to the late Charles Daming and Vergie (Duvall) Daming.
Jim was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. He served in the United States Army and was a member of Rockport American Legion Post 254. Jim retired from Whirlpool in 2004 after 38 years of service. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, and camping.
He was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, William Wilkinson, Jim Finney, Jack and Linda Frobeter, his Godson, Mark Frobeter and his niece, Mary Seiler.
Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janet Daming; son, Jimmy Daming, Jr.; daughter, Janey Haynes and her husband, James; grandchildren, Jared Haynes and Candace; Jacob Haynes and his wife, Shaina; Jenna Merritt and her husband, Luke; great-grandchildren, Harper, Olivia, Liam, Gavin, Thea; sisters, Charlene Wilkinson and Anna Finney; brother-in-law, Jimmy Frobeter; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Rockport, with Father Eugene Schmitt officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors.
Visitation is from 3 until 8 p.m. Monday, June 12, and from 8 until 9 a.m. Tuesday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
