James R. Bradshaw, 80, of Rockport, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022.

James was born November 19, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Robert and Nora Hattie Bradshaw. He moved with his family to Midway in 1956.

James was a “jack of all trades” and a master of most, working in all of the building trades and commercial construction roles through his working years. He loved to fish, race go-carts, and play pool with his many friends.

James followed Colts football, Tiger Woods’ golf, and loved to have a friendly debate of politics with anyone willing to engage.

James was a free spirit and lived life on his own terms for much of his younger life, but many years ago he made the decision and commitment to live life on God’s terms and became a man of great faith. He attended Gospel Mission in Rockport until his health issues prevented it.

He had a heart for the down-trodden and needy, and a generous giving nature. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Mary Henson; his wife, Joyce Bradshaw; his son, Joey Bradshaw; his brother, Kenneth Bradshaw; his brother-in-law, Stan Skelton; and his beloved friend, Jimmy Greene.

He is survived by his sister, Junita Skelton; his brother, Loren Bruner; his children, Rita Kemp, Tona Davis, and Kevin Bradshaw; his grandchildren, Tara, Cheyenne, John and Jeffrey; his great-grandchildren, Tuck, Stella, Liam, Parker, Jeremiah and Joey; many nieces and nephews; his dear friends, “Big John”  and David Leslie; and Sue Korfhage, his treasured home care assistant.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 1, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor Gordon King officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Visitation is 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The family requests that masks are worn. Friends unable to attend may send a condolence to the family at www.BoultinghouseFuneralHome.com.
