James “Jim” Peterson, 86, of Santa Claus, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Ascension-St. Vincent in Evansville, with his devoted wife, Phyllis, at his side.
He was born October 16, 1937, in Iowa City, Iowa, to John and Gladys Peterson.
On June 10, 1978, he married the love of his life, Phyllis Ofer. They were a great team for over 46 blessed years.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Keith Johnny and Alfred; and by two grandchildren, James Bell and Nicole Urbanski.
Jim served as director of the Radiology Program for Triton College in River Grove, Iowa, teaching health physics and radiation protection. He also formed his own radiology consulting company and managed his Radiation Calibration and Repair Center.
He loved to travel and play golf. He was always on the move.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Ofer Peterson; six children, Christina Bonk of Kentwood, Michigan, Denise (Charles) Bell of Ada, Michigan, Jolene (Mark) Redmond of Kentwood, Michigan, Alitia (Tao) Farrel of Kolowna, BC Canada and Mindy Ofer Groeschen of Dale; plus 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Per Jim’s wishes there will be no services.
