Janet Gail Fortner, 80, of Rockport, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at The Waters of Rockport.
Janet was born in Owensboro, Kentucky, on February 9, 1943, to the late Robert and Virginia (Roach) Whitehouse.
She had worked for Swan Cleaners in Owensboro and had been a caretaker.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Tonya Dawson, and her husband, Keith; her daughter-in-law, Rose Fortner; her stepson, Robert Fortner; her stepdaughter, Susie Stites and her husband, Darrel; her grandchildren, Amanda Bullock and her husband, Chris, Heath Lathery (Brittany Ebelhar), Amber Lubin and her husband, Jackson, Justin Fortner and his wife, Brittney, Aaron Stites, Meagan Majors and her husband, Randall and Garrett Fortner and his wife, Jessica; many great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fortner; her son, Robert Haley; her daughter, Donna Haley; her grandson, Jacob Lathery; her sister, Faye Fulkerson; and her stepsons, Mark Fortner and Jerry Fortner.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor Carl Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sorgho, Kentucky.
Visitation is 4 until 8 p.m., Monday, February 27, and from 9 until 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
