Jerald V. Fortune, 78, of Owensboro, Kentucky, formerly of Richland, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, in Owensboro, Kentucky, surrounded by family.
Jerald was born on June 14, 1941 in Warrick County to the late Josie (Wangler) Haegle and step-father George Haegle.
He was a member of the Army Reserves and had retired from Whirlpool of Evansville.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Judy (Miller) Fortune; a sister, Cherry Whilhelmus; and brothers, George (Bud) Held and Bob Fortune.
Jerald is survived by his son, Scott (Penny) Fortune of Maceo, KY; daughter, Cindy (Jimmy) Burden of Reed, KY; brother, Marvin Fortune; grandchildren, Kimberly (Quillan) Kelly of Owensboro, KY; Lisa (Roy) Purvis of Whitesville, KY; Laine Fortune of Owensboro, KY; Zachrey (Erica) Fortune of St. Charles, MO; great-grandchildren, Tyson Crawford, Alyssa Crawford, Makia Miller, Lexi Miller, Trey Miller, McKenna Fortune and Emersyn Fortune; great-great-grandchild, Braelynn Crawford (and he was thrilled with the coming of a second great-great-grandchild); several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Services for Jerald Fortune will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 18, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor Tim Coomer officiating. Burial will follow in James Parker Cemetery in Hatfield.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, January 18, at the funeral home.
