Jewell “Edna” Peck Albin Nix, 91, of Newburgh, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at The Village at Hamilton Pointe.
Edna was born on July 27, 1933, in Paris, Illinois, to Perry E. and Lois Jewell (Cates) Peck. The family moved to Evansville, where she grew and met her future husband, James Albin. They married on June 5, 1950, and were married almost 33 years before he died on March 2, 1983. She found love again with Robert J. Nix and they married in February of 1989. They were married 19 years before his passing May 19, 2008. She worked briefly at Lincoln Memorial Building, Schoeder’s Grocery in Lincoln City, Stones Motel and the Dale Professional Care Nursing Home. She also worked at Thermwood Corporation as Executive Secretary to the President for 20 plus years until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband and father of their children, James V. Albin; second husband, Robert J. Nix; two sons, Jimmy Lee and Michael Wayne; and two sisters, Sue Price and Jo Bilderback.
She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Martin and Loretta Albin; two sons, Steve (Linda) Albin and Larry (Colleen) Albin; stepson, Robin Nix; and by 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Edna Nix will be held at 1:30 p.m. C.D.T. Friday, August 9, at Fuller Funeral Home in Dale. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories in Gentryville. Pastor David Cullison will officiate the service.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
