John Leslie McBride, Sr., 78, of Rockport, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.
John was born in Henderson County, Kentucky on January 27, 1944, to the late Laurence and Alein (Chapel) McBride.
John was a member of United Steelworkers 104 and retired from Alcoa after 34 years of service. He was a member of Gentryville United Methodist Church for 15 years. He had been active with his sons in Vanderburgh County Boy Scouts Troop 346 and had belonged to a bowling league at Franklin Lanes for several years and enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing with his sons, and gardening.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his siblings, Melva Stone, Bud McBride, Wayne McBride, and Dolores Childers.
John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anita (Vollman) McBride; his children, John L. McBride, Jr. and his wife, Barbara; David Alan McBride and his wife, Joelle; and Aaron Dale McBride and his wife, Mindy; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; brothers, Larry McBride, Jim McBride, Bill McBride and Jack McBride; brother-in-law, Jerry Childers; sister-in-law, Martha McBride; extended family and friends.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday, December 9, at Gentryville United Methodist Church, 702 Main St., Gentryville IN 47537, with Pastor Charlotte Lee officiating.
Visitation is 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gentryville United Methodist Church.
