John Lee Haines, formerly of Rockport, passed on December 21, 2020, at his home in Orlando, Florida, surrounded by his loving family after losing his battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his mother Marjorie K. Haines, who passed away in 1982 and his father John W. Haines who passed away in 1948.
He was a loving husband and father.
His survivors include his wife of 36 years, Ann Carter Haines; his brother, David Haines (Dinah), of Linville; six children, Lee Ann Dalton of Naples, FL; Mark Pettus (Colleen) of Havana, FL; John D. Murphy (Kim) of Orlando, FL, Matthew Pettus (Angela) of Coral Springs, FL, Tim Pettus of Jacksonville, FL and Jeremy Pettus (Josh), of Ft. Lauderdale, FL;10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He graduated from Rockport High School 1958 and was later a partner in H&B Customs (stands for Haines & Blythe), a local car repair and customization facility.
A memorial is planned at a later date in his hometown of Rockport and following his wishes will take place on the banks of the Ohio River, which he loved.
