Joseph Wayne Hagedorn, 73, of Carrollton, KY, died Friday, December 2, 2022, at home with his family by his side.

He was born in Bristow on January 25, 1949. He graduated from Tell City High, Class of 1967. He served in the 217 Calvary 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army from 1968 through 1970 and was honorably discharged with a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart, and an Army Commendation Medal. 

Joseph worked at Maxon Shipyard until 1982. He then worked as a Boilermaker, Local 374, until he retired.

He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Rockport for over 40 years, before relocating to Carrollton, KY.

He was preceded in death by both parents, Casper John Hagedorn and Mildred (Gengelbach) Hagedorn; his son, Thomas Wayne Hagedorn; and his sister, Yvonne (Hagedorn) Baur.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Rebecca (Ambs) Hagedorn; his children, Edward (Kimberly) Hagedorn of Carrollton, KY and Theresa (Keith) Riley of Louisville, KY; two brothers, Richard Hagedorn and Jerry (Celeste) Hagedorn; two sisters, Sharon (Wayne) Smith and Cathy (Bernie) Bower; and four grandchildren, Amelia Juleaette Hagedorn, Liliana Paige Riley, Thomas Keith Riley and Temperance Josephine Riley (due in February).

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 10, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Bill Keller officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation is 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
