Joy Lucille Horn, 101, of Hatfield, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. Joy was born on November 1, 1922, to Fred and Florence (Duley) Miller.
Joy was a faithful member of Hatfield Bethel Christian Church, a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a graduate of Luce Township High School.
She served the South Spencer School Corporation for 27 years at Luce Elementary School as a janitor. Joy also worked for several years at the G.E. plant in Tell City, and worked in a plant in Evansville, building planes for the war effort during World War II.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Otis Horn; daughter, Jamie Sue Lantrip; sons-in-law, Larry Shelton and Bob Etienne; and brother, Don Miller.
Joy is survived by daughters Barbara Shelton and Donna Etienne; grandchildren Michael (Cindy) Shelton, Darren (Wendy) Shelton, Brent “BJ” (Misti) Lantrip, Angela (Bret) Underhill, Alicia Higgs, Ashley (Andy) Rasche, April (Nick) Underhill; along with 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday, August 10, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor John Wongler officiating. Burial will follow in James Parker Cemetery in Hatfield.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, August 10, at the funeral home.
