Kaddy Marie (Burroughs) Hurley, 76, of Richland, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent in Evansville.
Kaddy was born in Richland on January 7, 1948, to Ivan “Buck” Burroughs and Clara “Mickey” (Sarver) Creek.
Kaddy was a member of Midway United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of ISTA.
Kaddy was a graduate of Chrisney High School, Oakland City University, and the University of Evansville. She taught school at Castle Elementary for 42 years and enjoyed keeping in contact with former students. She loved her son and daughter -in-law with a passion and was very proud that they were educators like her.
She was known by many names over the years, answering to Mrs. Hurley, Grandma Kaddy, Aunt Kaddy, Miss Kaddy, and Hurley.
Kaddy had some very special friends in her life who were more like sisters. She cherished Karen Garrett and her grandkids, Jackson, Abby, and J.D. Raaf, and her lifetime friend, Connie Miller.
Kaddy enjoyed gardening with her husband, Bill, and her Thursday lunches with her buddies and fellow retired school teachers.
In addition to her parents, Kaddy was preceded in death by her stepdad, Mel Creek.
Kaddy is survived by her husband, Bill Hurley, and her son, John Hurley and his wife, Jessy.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday, February 5, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with Pastor Carl Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Visitation is 2 until 6 p.m. Sunday, February 4, and from 12 until 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
