Lawrence “Larry” Xavier Ambs, 75, of Santa Claus, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at his home.
Larry was born in Owensboro, Kentucky on June 6, 1948, to the late George W. and Dorothy M. (Payne) Ambs.
Larry was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. He was a United States Marine veteran, a member of the NRA, and a life member of Rockport American Legion Post 254.
Larry had been a mechanic at ALCOA, retiring in 2011 after 25 years of service. He loved his tractors, restoring old tractors, hunting, and his beloved Harley Davidson motorcycle.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his son, Justin Lawrence Ambs; and his siblings, Doug Ambs, Freddie Ambs and Theresa Ambs.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Ambs; his siblings, Judy Maddock, Rebecca Hagedorn, Robert “Bobby” Ambs and his wife, Carolyn; Mike Ambs and his wife, Debbie; Rick Ambs and his wife, Robin; Kenny Ambs and his wife, Theresa; Chris Ambs and his wife, Vicky; and Carol Keller and her husband, Bill; special extended family, Aaron Corbett and his wife, Paula, and Paul Corbett and his wife, Amanda.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday, August 17, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 547 Elm St., Rockport, with Father Ron Kreilein officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is 2 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, and from 9 until 9:45 a.m. Thursday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport.
