The City of Rockport formally welcomed Leah Jane’s Salon to the local business community Monday, April 14. Mayor Cathy Kirkpatrick and several city hall employees were on hand for a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new location, along State Road 66 right next to Angelo’s Pizza. Owner and proprietor Leah Jane Nelson handled the giant scissors with all the grace one might expect from a member of her profession.
Leah has been hard at work renovating the location, which was previously the home of Kenny’s Barbershop. Indeed, it’s a bit hard to recognize the space.
The carpets are gone, replaced with a sleek hardwood style. The aesthetic is decidedly colorful, with decor to match. The new equipment is ready to provide everything from hair cuts, coloring and other services.
Some residents may recall Leah from her time at the former House of Hair on Lincoln Ave. This is her sixth year in the hair-care industry.
Leah graduated from South Spencer High School in 2017 and studied at the University of Southern Indiana before deciding to pursue her passion at the TSPA Evansville beauty school. She brought those skills home, and is thrilled to now have a place to call her own. Leah offered heartfelt thanks to the friends, family and clients who have helped make launching her own salon possible.
“This has been a dream,” she said. “Thank you for believing in us.”
