A modified version of the Mariah Hill Picnic will be held from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sunday, August 9. Despite some changes, the event will still be filled with many favorites from the annual affair.
Mariah Hill’s famous soup will still be sold by the gallon, with pre-sales on Saturday, August 8 from 7-10 a.m. at the Mariah Hill park grounds. Bring your own gallon jars, clearly marked with your first and last name. Because fewer kettles will be done this year, the price will be $16 per gallon. Reserve your soup before it’s gone! Soup jars will be filled Sunday morning and ready for pick-up from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Sunday.
Drive-thru or carry-out chicken dinners — along with handmade and baked goods — will be sold from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Mary Help of Christians Church Parish Hall (enter from the church entrance off Highway 62). Chicken dinners will include 1/4 of a chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and slaw.
Picnic tables will be distanced throughout the Mariah Hill park grounds just below the Mary Help of Christians Parish Hall to allow attendees to enjoy their dinner and handmade desserts outside.
On the park grounds will be the raffle, filled with many chances to win cash and other great prizes. Handmade quilts, made by many of the ladies of the St. Francis of Assisi Church and Mariah Hill community, will also be available for purchase at $400 apiece. Raffle tickets and quilts will be available for purchase from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., with the grand raffle scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
