Marie M. Taber, age 83, of Jasper, passed away at 3:12 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Marie was born in Mariah Hill, on August 17, 1939, to Lawrence and Lorene (Bredhold) Miller. She married Donald R. Taber, Sr. on October 13, 1955 in St. Mary Catholic Church in Huntingburg.
In her earlier years, Marie was a cook for the K of C. She then worked as a shipping clerk for Jasper Wood Products. She cooked at the Chicken Place restaurant in Ireland and in the Jasper Middle School cafeteria.
Marie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She enjoyed playing cards, especially poker with friends and family on Thursdays. She loved going out to eat, celebrating birthdays with her sisters, the Chicago Cubs, and IU basketball. She especially enjoyed her friends, family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Donald Taber, Sr., Jasper; two sons, Donnie (Jane) Taber, Jr., Jasper, and J.P. Taber, Huntingburg; three sisters, Dorothy Matthews, Ferdinand, Janie (Glenn) Kays, Huntingburg, and Diane (Harold) Dyal, St. Henry; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Her parents and one brother, Clarence Miller preceded her in death.
A Mass of Christian burial for Marie M. Taber will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow at Mariah Hill Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 9 until the 11 a.m. service time at the church on Tuesday, December 27 (all times listed are Eastern).
