Melissa Cay Martin, 52, of Richland, died Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at 2:45 p.m. at her home. She was born December 19, 1968, in Hopkins County, Kentucky.
She was a teacher for the Muhlenberg County Board of Education, and a member of First Baptist Church in Drakesboro.
Melissa’s excitement for life was infectious and inspiring despite the challenges she faced due to her multiple sclerosis. Family, friendship, and faith filled Melissa’s life. She was a loving, caring, giving person. Even in death, she gave sacrificially by donating her organs to research.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Joseph “Joe” Martin; children Morgan (Joshua) Maddox-Weber of Indianapolis, C. Travis (Brittany) Martin of Fort Branch and Shauna G. (Ryan) Ralph of Owensboro; sister Angela (Todd) Hayes; grandchildren Deacon Martin, Holden Martin and Ryder Ralph; parents Donald and Sandra Snodgrass; and nephew and niece, Jacob Hayes and Abbey Crumpler.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 19, at 1 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Bro. Ronald Doss, Melissa’s uncle, officiating. Burial will follow in Allen’s Chapel Cemetery.
