Michael L. Day, 75, of Dale, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024, at Cypress Grove Nursing Home in Newburgh.

Michael was born September 6, 1948 in Evansville to Alvin and Lucille (Schaerer) Day. He was united in marriage with Jowashia A. Kellems on February 28, 1970 in St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City.

Michael was a member of St. Joseph Church in Dale, where he taught a religion classes for 25 years. Michael was a member of the National Corvette Museum.

He retired from INDOT after 44 ½ years as a project supervisor. Michael was a United States Navy Veteran, where he served on the USS Hanson DD832. He was a member of Abe Lincoln American Legion Post 444 in Dale.

Surviving are his wife, Jowashia A. Day; one son, Brandon R. Day and fiancé Lori Choate of Birdseye; two daughters, Sacheen L. Day of Grayville, IL, and Samantha L. Day and fiancé Jon Martin of Mt. Vernon; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Robert Day.

Michael enjoyed hiking and being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. CST on Friday, February 9 in St. Joseph Church in Dale. Burial with military graveside rites will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 until 7 p.m. CST Thursday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand, and on Friday from 8 until 10 a.m. CST at the church.
