Nellie Lee Payne, 93, of Rockport, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Rockport.
Nellie was born on July 19, 1929, to the late Oral and Charlene (Bence) Beasley.
A homemaker, she was a member of Bloomfield Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church who loved traveling with her husband and spending time with her family. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and quilting.
Nellie was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Edgar Payne; sisters, Minnie Buxton and Martha Lynch.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheryl D. “Sherry” Yeager and her husband, Kenneth C. of Chandler; son, Edgar L. Payne and his wife, Lucy of Rockport; grandchildren, Kelli S. Mattingly, Kevin R. Yeager, Andrea G. Shourds, Rachel A. Mcdurmon, and Eric T. Payne; great-grandchildren, Stephen L. Mattingly, Jessica Banks, Matthew Mattingly, Sarah Mattingly, Deborah Mattingly, Faith Mattingly, Sarah Miller, Brandon Davis, Michaela Bruton and Cian Mcdurmon; seven great-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Mae Craft and Donna Caine; and extended family and friends.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday, August 26, at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, followed by a graveside service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chrisney, officiated by Father Ron Kreilein.
Visitation is from 2 until 8 p.m. Thursday, August 25, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
